SYSTEMIC APPROACHES TO INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
This panel at the Global Studies Association conference in Manchester (July 5-7, 2012) aims to grasp the ‘bigger picture’ in International Relations and highlight systemic patterns that need to be taken seriously by scholars on international politics. It thus invites PhD students and junior scholars working on the English school of international society, Structural Realism and international anarchy, Neo-liberalism and Regime theory, Neo-Marxist approaches such as Wallerstein’s World Systems Theory or Dependency School, international norm diffusion (e.g. Martha Finnemore and Kathryn Sikkink), Mathias Albert’s neo-Luhmannian school on Modern systems theory (Bielefeld School), John W. Meyer’s World Society school (Stanford School), Huntington’s Clash of civilizations, Multiple Modernities, and Postwesternization. There might be limited funding to help with travel costs. Please send your short abstracts to: didem.buhari.2008@live.rhul.ac.uk until 29th March, 2012.
